Five songs that tell My Story.

Have you ever had a moment that you know during it, you won't ever forget it? Then after that moment has past, after it's settled in your brain, and made a home in your heart, have you ever heard a song that makes you think of it instantly?
I have. Matter of fact, I've had many of these moments. I've heard songs and artists sing lyrics that make me feel as if they've been created from my memories, from my life. Songs that tell their own story, as well as mine.
So here are five of them, that I believe, tell my story.

My explanation:

No Rain by Blind Melon on Grooveshark
No rain lyrics
Usually when you ask a person to describe who they are, where they're from, and what their life is like, they'll ramble on endlessly with words that usually go in one ear and then right out the other. Then again that's if you just ask "a person", not me.
If you asked me those things, I wouldn't stare at you blankly, trying to conjure up a dictionary of my life to tell you, I'd simply play No rain by Blind Melon.
Why? Well because...
"All I can say is that my life is pretty plain,
I like watchin' the puddles gather rain.
And all I can do is just pour some tea for two
And speak my point of view but it's not sane.
It's not sane.
I just want someone to say to me, oh,
I'll always be there when you wake, yeah.
Ya know I'd like to keep my cheeks dry today.
So stay with me and I'll have it made.
And I don't understand why sleep all day
And I start to complain that there's no rain.
And all I can do is read a book to stay awake,
And it rips my life away but it's a great escape."

I'm a simple girl, and I live a simple life. I speak opinions that may not make sense to some, I wish and wish for someone to come along to make me forget all the ugliness the world contains, I read and sleep to escape from reality, and yes, I like to complain when the opportunity strikes. I'm not perfect, but I'm me. A plainly unique person.

My inspiration:

Ho Hey by The Lumineers on Grooveshark

There's a lot that can create a person. There's moments, objects, instances, there's anything. But there's even more that can make an inspiration. Mine is my best friend, Kayla. She's the most special, well rounded, and unique person I've met. If there's one person that can connect with music as much as me, it's her.
In all honestly, it was hard to choose a song that would sum up our friendship, because truthfully, we have many. But\Ho hey by The Lumineers is definitely one that has a soft spot in my heart.
"I belong with you, you belong with me, you're my sweetheart."
Yeah, that's a bit of a romantic lyric I'm sure every high school couple is connecting to right now, but to me it's a reminder of a friend I know that will always be there, and that without her, I'm not totally complete.
I guess in a way you can call us sisters, because we can be very alike. We get each other, we understand, we just know. That's a sister type of quality, but it's so much more than that, its' much more deeper than sisterhood. And I guess it's because we're not really sisters, we're soul mates.
Kayla has been there through my ups and my downs. She's wiped my tears, held my hand, and dealt with a lot of things I don't even think I could handle myself. She's an amazing person, and that's why she is my inspiration.

My Motivation:

Float On by Modest Mouse on Grooveshark
Float On by Modest Mouse has always been, hands down, one of my favorite song.
To me, it's the song I listen to when the world isn't treating me right, and ridiculous things have begun to dig beneath my surface.
My life is a mess. I get myself into sticky situations, and stability is wrong definition for me. Things change constantly, and I'm not one for accepting changes, especially drastic ones.
But whenever a change does arise, and I feel uneasy, or alone, or scared, I listen to this song and I know that no matter what life throws at me,
"We'll all float on alright".

My Realization:
I Will Follow You Into the Dark by Death Cab for Cutie on Grooveshark

I will follow you into the dark by Death Cab for Cutie
In life, we all fall in love. In high school, we all fall in love a lot.
Personally, I think I've tapped into romance a little more than I should've. I got involved too much, which resulted in heart breaks too often. Because of those heart breaks, I had spans of time where my perspective on love was completely wrong, in my eyes. I viewed it in dim lighting I guess you could say.
But, like any other hormonal adolescent, I got over it.
This song was basically my playlist during those moments.
"If there's no one beside you, when your soul embarks, then I'll follow you into the dark."
I realized that no matter how many times you fall for someone, how many times you get your heart a little torn, there will always be hope.
I know that no matter what, in life, I have something to look forward to. And love is that something.
There will  be tons of people out there that will win you over, that will melt your heart in all kinds of ways, meaning that those people don't have to be in an intimate relationship with you.
In my moving on process, I grew to understand that the people that were there during my fall-outs  were the ones that I love. They're the ones that will always be by my side helping me, and making sure I never go into the dark alone. And that, in my eyes, is True Love.

And My Determination:
Blackbird by The Beats on Grooveshark

Now that you have an idea to my story, I'd like to explain my next chapter: My future.
I'm graduating soon. I'm heading into a whole new world, filled with the unknown fears of Adulthood.
Quite honestly, I'm terrified. I have no clue what I'll do, where I'll go, or who I'll become.
So I guess that's why this whole last semester of high school I've been waking up every morning and listening to Blackbird by The Beatles.
To me, this song is making me determined to grow up more and more. Because it gives me hope that once this chapter ends, I'm ready to spread my wings and soar this new world awaiting me.
"All your life, you were only waiting for this moment to arise", will be going through my head as soon as I walk across that stage, get my diploma, and step out into my new life.
And honestly, I've never been more excited for a moment such as this.

Thank you for listening to my story, I can only hope it's inspired you to tell your own in a whole new way.
Take Care,
Jessy.

An Interest of Music.

In life, I honestly find most things very interesting.  I believe there's so much out there out there that can spark your interest a million different ways.
And that's exactly what music does for me.
When I hear it, it awakens me inside and out. A simple tone, rythem, or lyric changes my thoughts and my perspective on anything.
From the nights I spent in my room listening to underground bands, to falling in love with a boy who held my hand while listening to Death Cab For Cutie.
From concerts, to guitar lessons, to making beats with any object I can find, music has always been in my life some way, some how.
In my opinion, I don't think music is as main stream as everyone see's it. It is not average, it is one of the most vastly unique thing this world has to offer. You can connect with it, learn from it, and utilize it for almost anything.
That's why I love music. Because no matter what, I know I can find it anywhere.
Think of all the special moments you've had in life, then think of a song. That moments will be enlightened. Think of what it would be like to watch a movie without a soundtrack. Think of your everyday life you would live if music did not exist.
As I see it, without music, the world would be dull.
Music is not just sound. It is eternal and forever plays it's tune in a world that needs something beautiful.
Music is beauty to me. It is my life.
